You almost certainly have animals living on your face. You can’t see them, but they’re there. They are microscopic mites, eight-legged creatures rather like spiders. Almost every human being has them. They spend their entire lives on our faces, where they eat, mate and finally die – Lucy Jones, BBC

What are Wet Wipes?

Wet wipes are pre-moistened towelettes. There are wet wipes for all sorts of uses. Some that can be used on the face and body, to clean and disinfect surfaces, to remove makeup and there are even deodorant and antiperspirant wet wipes. There are also antibacterial wipes, individually wrapped wipes, ones in big packs, the list goes on!

Are Wet Wipes Bad for Your Face?

There are a lot of wet wipes on the market. If you do want to use wet wipes on your face you really need to make sure you are using ones that have been formulated with suitable ingredients for the purpose you want to achieve.

You are certainly not going to be able to remove stubborn waterproof makeup makeup using a wet wipe that is supposed to clean a computer screen! If you do, you are risking serious irritation to your skin and eyes.

Never put wet wipes that contain alcohol on your face and antibacterial wipes or surface wipes are definitely not suitable on your face.

1. Makeup Remover Wipes

These individual wet wipes were designed to be used on the face, so there shouldn’t be any worry at all.

Just make sure you use wipes from a reputable company that puts consumer safety at its forefront.

Makeup remover wipes are a great way to clean foundation, powder, blush, eye makeup and lipstick from your face. Use gentle strokes over your skin to melt off the makeup. You may need to use more than one for thorough makeup removal.

2. Baby Wet Wipes

Moms of babies and young children will always have a pack of baby wet wipes in their purse or diaper bag.

These are a great all-rounder for both kids and adults. You can use one to clean off grubby hands and fingers (remember they are not antibacterial so they won’t actually kill germs) and are safe to use on faces.

Baby wet wipes are really cheap and are a great alternative for when you don’t have access to soap and running water.

3. Tooth or Dental Wipes

Ok, so these aren’t technically for the face, but dental wipes are a great way to freshen breath and remove stains from teeth and lips. Great for after drinking coffee or red wine.

The Verdict: Can You Use Wet Wipes on Your Face?

Of course you can, so long as they have been created to be used on facial skin.

In a pinch, you can use a baby wet wipe on your face to clean up smudges or dirt and for taking off makeup, but it’s probably best to use wet wipes specifically made for cleansing the face if you plan to use them frequently. Take Offz
